Naeem Sitarmaker "The Rose"
Aged Mahogany (tun) wood. Custom design in collaboration with with Naeem who comes from the oldest family of instrument
makers in Miraj, India. Pandharpur gourds for both
main and top, scalloped penwork
edges on headstock along with accented highlight
carving and inlay and natural materials
for bridge and fittings. This is a larger sitar with
a deep gourd, the tabli measures 14 1/4 inches wide. The
idea for this sitar came after seeing a sheet of
nice faux MOP inlay and I thought, what would it be
like "if we did....", so combined with Naeems
excellent ideas and work this is the finished
product! The pictures don't do it justice!
Construction is solid, has a nice weight
and proper thicknesses, jawari is just short of half
open with subtle but even taraf response. The
penwork on the MOP inlay give it a nice glow in
This sitar has been
air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to
preserve its quality.
