Made for us by under the Kanai Lal label by Shubash. His fathers name was Kanai Lal and there's no relation to the famous Kanai Lal of the past. A great playing and sounding sitar at a very reasonable price by a maker we've known for years.. Equal to the #1 model sold elsewhere, ours has been air shipped. Has modern style taraf grommets, synthetic bridge and inlaid pegs. Nice action and built sturdy enough to require a little break in yet with a great tone reminiscent in the mid-range of the sound Anoushka Shankar's sitar has. The top tumba is fully carved made from natural gourd with decorated soundhole (new model). Has lower profile main tuning pegs....If you order the fiberglass case, a matching top tumba fiberglass case is included. Comes with a set of Karuna strings and extra main and sympathetic peg.
